Binance Eyes Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Brazil Stocks in Global Push

Key Takeaways

Binance Moves Beyond Crypto as Exchange Model Expands

Binance is looking well beyond bitcoin.

The world’s largest crypto exchange is considering adding stock exposure from Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and Brazil, co-CEO Richard Teng said, as the company responds to users seeking broader access to traditional markets.

“A lot of users tell us: ‘I want access to the top stocks in Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, Brazil…’” Teng wrote on X. “So we’re listening, and exploring how to expand stock access across more global markets.”

The plan is still exploratory. But it fits a much larger shift underway across the crypto exchange industry.

Binance Is Building an All-in-One Trading Platform

Binance has already expanded well beyond spot crypto trading.

In 2026, the exchange introduced tokenized U.S. stocks, which recently surpassed $1 billion in assets under management (AUM) in roughly four months, making it the first tokenized equity product to hit that milestone.

Teng described the diversification as a way of “weatherproofing” the business. That strategy matters as crypto prices remain well below their 2025 peaks, putting pressure on transaction-driven exchange revenues.

Rivals are moving in the same direction. Coinbase has added stocks, perpetual futures and prediction markets as part of its “everything exchange” strategy, while OKX is developing tokenized U.S. equities through a venture with New York Stock Exchange owner, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).

Tokenized Stocks Could Open Markets Across Borders

For Binance, the pitch is also about financial access.

Teng argues tokenization and ’round-the-clock trading could give investors outside major financial centers easier access to international equities, particularly in emerging markets where brokerage access can remain limited.

That opportunity is potentially significant. A 2025 World Bank report estimated that roughly 1.3 billion adults remain without formal bank accounts.

Crypto platforms already serve many users for savings, payments, and cross-border transfers. Adding equities could make those platforms increasingly resemble global financial supermarkets.

AI Trading Adds Another Layer

Binance has also added another layer to its expansion with the launch of Binance AI Pro, an AI-powered trading assistant designed to automate market analysis, strategy execution, and position management.

Teng expects AI agents to play a larger role as investors become more comfortable delegating decisions within predefined limits.

The direction is becoming clear.

Crypto exchanges once competed mainly on coins and fees. Now Binance, Coinbase, and OKX are competing over who can offer the widest financial universe from a single account.

If Binance ultimately adds major Asian and Latin American equities, then that race will move far beyond crypto.
